Salaberry-de-Valleyfield's Outdoor Sports Fields Master Plan 2021-2025

The Challenge

With a view to improving its outdoor sports facilities, the City of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield wishes to develop a master plan to analyze options and guide its decisions and interventions in terms of development, compliance with standards and the choice of facilities for the various sports facilities, including the evaluation of a multisport hub.

Our contribution

Mandate 1: Preliminary cost study of the sports fields for the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield multisport park.

In order to proceed with a preliminary evaluation of the choice of the targeted sports arenas for this multisport hub, LBB evaluated the supply and demand using socio-demographic data and trends in the various targeted sports. Following the selection of the sports arenas according to the preliminary study, LBB produced construction cost estimates for each of the sports arenas to be able to analyze the feasibility of the project.

Mandate 2: Creation of a master plan for Salaberry-de-Valleyfield’s outdoor sports facilities 2021-2025

LBB will conduct a detailed study of the supply and demand and the condition of all sports fields in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. This study includes the analysis of relevant socio-demographic data for the City and its neighbourhoods, a complete portrait of the quality of each of the sports arenas and an analysis of the specific demand for each sport as well as new trends and emerging sports. Following this study, LBB will jointly develop with the City the vision and orientations that will guide future decisions and actions in order to make Salaberry-de-Valleyfield an active sports city.

The results

These two mandates enabled the City of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield to move forward with a multisport hub and adopt the master plan for outdoor sports facilities. The analysis conducted for the master plan confirmed the City’s need to invest in the various sports arenas in order to allow its citizens to enjoy modern, attractive, adequate and safe sports facilities.
