2020 ISU World figure skating Championships in Montreal

The Challenge

Skate Canada wanted to win Canada’s bid to host the ISU World Figure Skating Championships Montreal 2020 at the Centre Bell. The World Championship is a global event that attracts more than 50 000 spectators, 300 000 million television viewers in more than 100 countries and generates significant economic, social and tourism benefits for Canada, Quebec and Montreal.

Our Contribution

LBB Sport acted as Skate Canada’s bid leader to obtain the rights to organize the event. To do this, LBB developed the bid and documents, budget and organizational framework, prepared the business plans in support of public funding requests, the marketing as well as the ticketing and sponsorship strategies. Following a successful bid, LBB became and acted as general manager of the event (to be held in March 2020)

The Results

Skate Quebec won the national bid and Skate Canada the international bid. The three levels of government contribute significantly to the funding and success of the event. The event promises to be a great success.   www.montreal2020.com
